Privacy Policy

Glitter Witch is created and operated by Carol Carey, writing as Glitter Witch. If you have a privacy question, you can contact carolcarey78@yahoo.com.

Information used by the Glitter Witch iOS app

The app may process information that you choose to provide so its account and personal features can work. This can include:

• Your email address for account creation, sign-in, password recovery and account management.
• A profile photograph if you choose to upload one.
• Book of Shadows entries, journal writing, categories and other personal notes that you choose to save.
• Favourites and saved Glitter Witch guidance.
• Questions that you choose to submit through Ask Glitter Witch or Ask the Stars.
• For astrology features, birth details that you choose to provide, which may include your date of birth, birth time or approximate time, birthplace, derived location/time-zone information, and the calculated chart, house, aspect and transit data needed to provide your astrology features.
• Subscription or purchase status supplied by Apple if paid app features are offered.

How app information is used

Information is used only as needed to provide the Glitter Witch app, including authenticating your account, displaying and syncing your saved content, answering questions submitted through Ask Glitter Witch and Ask the Stars, calculating and displaying astrology features that you request, supporting app security, helping with account issues and providing any subscription features you choose to purchase.

How Glitter Witch guidance is created and processed

Ask Glitter Witch is grounded in the approved Glitter Witch Library. When you submit a question, the Glitter Witch system searches that library and selects relevant material before a written response is created. The question and the relevant selected Glitter Witch material may then be sent through the Glitter Witch backend to OpenAI so the response can be organised and written clearly. OpenAI is used as a processing provider; it is not the source of the Glitter Witch Library.

Ask the Stars uses calculated astrology data together with the approved Glitter Witch Astrology Library. Depending on the feature you use, relevant calculated chart details and current transit information may be included with your question and relevant selected astrology material when the response is processed by OpenAI. The planetary positions used by Glitter Witch are calculated by the astrology system rather than generated from the wording of your question.

Before the app sends this information for the first time, it displays an in-app notice explaining what may be sent and identifies OpenAI as the processing provider. The app asks you to choose whether to continue. If you choose not to continue, the question is not submitted for that processing.

OpenAI states that, by default, inputs and outputs sent through its API platform are not used to train or improve OpenAI models unless the API account owner explicitly opts in to data sharing. OpenAI may retain limited API data for operational, security, abuse-prevention or legal purposes in accordance with its current API data policies.

Please do not include information in a question that is not needed for the guidance you are requesting. Glitter Witch guidance is intended for spiritual interest, education, personal reflection and entertainment rather than confidential medical, legal, financial or emergency information.

Service providers used by the app

Glitter Witch uses service providers only where needed to operate the app:

• Supabase provides account authentication, database services, file storage and server-side functions used by the app.
• AstrologyAPI is used to perform requested astrology calculations. Birth date, birth time or time range, birthplace/location and related time-zone information may be processed as needed to calculate chart and transit data.
• OpenAI processes questions together with relevant selected Glitter Witch material and, for Ask the Stars, relevant calculated astrology information, to create the wording of personalised responses.
• Apple processes App Store downloads, in-app purchases and subscriptions if paid app features are offered.

Glitter Witch selects service providers for the limited purposes described above and expects them to handle information under privacy, security and legal protections applicable to their services. Glitter Witch does not sell app users' personal information to advertisers and does not use personal information for cross-app advertising tracking.

Photos and device permissions

The app requests access to your photo library only when you choose to select a profile photograph. You can choose not to add a profile photograph and continue using the account.

Data retention and deletion

Account information and content that you save in Glitter Witch are retained while your account remains active so that the app can provide your Book of Shadows, Favourites, saved guidance, profile and personal astrology features. Calculated astrology profile, chart and daily astrology records may also be stored with your account so that the app can provide those features without requiring you to enter the same information each time.

You can permanently delete your Glitter Witch account from Profile → Account Settings → Delete My Account. Account deletion removes the Glitter Witch account and associated account data under Glitter Witch's control, including Book of Shadows entries, Favourites, saved guidance, the profile photograph and account-linked astrology profile/chart data. Deletion cannot be undone.

Some limited records may be retained where reasonably necessary to meet legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security or platform obligations. Service providers may also retain limited operational or security records in accordance with their own legal and security requirements.

Website and shop privacy

The Glitter Witch website collects only information needed to answer enquiries and operate the shop. If you contact Glitter Witch, the details you provide are used to respond to your enquiry. If you place an order, the information required to fulfil and support that order is used for that purpose and for applicable legal or accounting obligations.

Stripe securely processes website payment and checkout information under Stripe's own systems and privacy terms. Card details are not stored by the Glitter Witch website.

App Terms & Guidance

The Glitter Witch app, its books, Ask Glitter Witch responses, Ask the Stars readings, rituals, spellwork, astrology interpretations and related material are provided for spiritual interest, education, personal reflection and entertainment. They do not guarantee supernatural, medical, mental-health, financial, legal, relationship or other outcomes.

Glitter Witch responses and astrology interpretations can contain errors or uncertainty. They should not be treated as professional advice or as a substitute for qualified medical, mental-health, legal, financial or emergency services. If a situation requires professional or urgent help, please use an appropriate qualified service.

You remain responsible for deciding whether and how to use any ritual, spell, candle, crystal, herb or other practice described in Glitter Witch material. Follow ordinary safety precautions and the safety information supplied with any physical product.

Your Book of Shadows and other personal writing remain your own content. You are responsible for the information you choose to enter, save or share through the app.

Subscriptions and in-app purchases

If Glitter Witch offers an auto-renewable subscription or other digital purchase, the price, billing period and included features will be shown in the app before you confirm the purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's billing and subscription terms.

Auto-renewable subscriptions continue until cancelled through your Apple Account subscription settings. The app will provide access to restore eligible purchases. Deleting a Glitter Witch account does not by itself cancel an Apple subscription, so any active subscription should also be managed or cancelled through Apple.

Use of the Glitter Witch iOS app is also subject to Apple's applicable standard end-user licence terms unless a different licence is presented with the app.

Delivery and returns

Available delivery regions, dispatch estimates and delivery charges will be clearly shown with each physical product or during Stripe checkout before payment is completed.

Customers should contact carolcarey78@yahoo.com promptly if an item arrives damaged, incomplete or different from its description. Any applicable cancellation and return rights under consumer law remain unaffected.

Shop Terms

Product descriptions, prices, contents, availability and delivery charges will be shown as accurately as possible when an order is placed. A physical product is not reserved until Stripe confirms successful payment.

Ritual products are intended for personal reflection and spiritual practice. They do not guarantee supernatural, medical, financial, legal, relationship or mental-health outcomes.

Candles and all included items must be used according to their supplied safety instructions. Nothing on this website replaces professional medical, mental-health, legal or financial advice.
